The influence of professional development and decision-making on the individual work performance of police personnel

The job of PNP officers is both tedious and dangerous, wherein they must always invest in their professional development to blend with the standard of professional policing and make sure that their individual work performance is commendable and compliment the image of the PNP organization. The study investigated the professional development, decision-making dimensions, and individual work performance of 320 active police uniformed personnel in the 17 municipalities of Cotabato Province. The results revealed that the level of professional development of PNP officers was high; the level of decision-making dimensions was high; the level of individual work performance is high. Also, a significant correlation is noted between professional development and individual work performance of the PNP officers as well as between decision-making. Aggregately, professional development and dimension-making dimension mere found to be predictors of individual work performance. Independently, the educational dimension of professional development and rational decision-making dimension best influence the individual work performance.
