About the Journal
Review of Educational Administration, Leadership, and Management (REALM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published biannually by the Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc., Philippines. The journal is committed to advancing the theory, research, and practice of education by fostering discourse in the fields of educational leadership, school administration, instructional supervision, governance and policy, organizational management, and pedagogical leadership.
REALM aims to serve as an intellectual platform for scholars, policymakers, educational practitioners, school heads, and institutional leaders to critically engage with contemporary and emerging issues in education systems globally and within local contexts, particularly within Southeast Asia and the Global South.
Focus and Scope
REALM accepts high-quality empirical, theoretical, and conceptual research articles, review papers, and practice-based insights in, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Educational leadership theories and frameworks
- School-based management and governance
- Organizational development and change in education
- Instructional leadership and curriculum supervision
- Teacher leadership and mentoring
- Strategic planning and quality assurance in schools
- Educational policy and decision-making
- Distributed and transformational leadership
- Crisis management and resilience in educational settings
- Leadership preparation and development programs
- Issues in higher education management
- Public and private educational systems administration
Submissions that utilize interdisciplinary approaches, comparative analysis, or innovative methodologies are especially encouraged.
Publication Ethics and Peer Review
The journal follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartiality and academic rigor. All submitted manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening for relevance, clarity, and adherence to ethical research standards, including compliance with the ethical use of generative AI in manuscript preparation. Authors are also expected to disclose conflicts of interest and obtain relevant ethical clearances when conducting human subject research.
REALM upholds the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
Open Access Policy
REALM is an open-access journal, which means that all content is freely available to users without charge. Readers are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
Copyright and Licensing
All articles published in REALM are under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright of their work, granting the journal the right to first publication.
Publisher and Sponsorship
The journal is published by the Research Development and Publication Office (RDPO) of Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. (JMCFI), a leading higher education institution in Davao City, Philippines, committed to promoting research, innovation, and academic excellence. For its first volume, the journal does not charge publication fees and is fully subsidized by the institution to encourage scholarly productivity and accessibility.
Archiving and Indexing
REALM participates in digital preservation initiatives such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS to ensure long-term accessibility and archival of its published content.
